The future of Biology

Curious about deep learning, generative models, and computational biology.

About Me

I am a Bioinformatician from Iceland specializing in data analysis, deep learning generative models. I enjoy exploring new computational methods to extract insights from high dimensional data.

I love solving problems and especilly when they have a meaning behind them.

👣 My journey:

☑️ I got my bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Iceland

☑️ During my studies I worked at both the University of Iceland and later at the Cancer Research Center at the Landspitali Hospital, where I created plasmids and researched the BRCA1 gene

☑️ Moved to Denmark to pursue an MSc degree in Computational Biology

☑️ During my studies there I learned a lot about analyzing data but also a lot about generative models and deep learning

☑️ Got the opportunity to do a master’s project about deep learning to get even better insights into that field

On my this page you will find some of my projects (some finished, some ongoing)

Projects

gRNA predictor

Trained a CNN model on gRNA data. Predicts CRISPR Cas9 cleavage efficiency from a 30-nucleotide sequence. Has an actual user interface! Wow!

NGS File merger

This application allows you to merge the files you need based on the sample and R number. Made for my lab to save time on manual tasks.

PythonBioinformatics

sxGenBench

sxGeneBench is a benchmark of generative models used for single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq data.

Research & Thesis

My thesis focuses on benchmarking generative models and exploring disentangled representations. Check out my results in the paper, or reach out to discuss disentanglement.
